Brainchild of Dinesh Deheragoda – Ceylon tea connoisseur turned entrepreneur- Hilltop’s legend goes as far back as three decades to 1993. Today, Hilltop tea is proud to have served countries across the globe with the best Ceylon black tea. Its diverse packaging portfolio ensures that customers are able to purchase just the right option when it comes to tea. With valuable insights resulting from years of specialist experience in the industry since 1986, Hilltop makes certain that tea is done right whenever and wherever it is consumed.

In the Tea Trade since 1986

Knowing very well that finding one's passion is one thing and actually putting it to work is another, Dinesh Deheragoda set about realising his dream of carving his share off the Ceylon Tea industry with his entry as a professional tea taster as far back as 1986.

Birth of Hilltop Tea in 1993

After gathering valuable experience as a Tea Export Manager, in 1993 Dinesh initiated his own Ceylon Tea manufacturing and Ceylon Tea export company, Black Tea Exports (Pty) Limited which exports the popular HILLTOP Tea brand of Pure Ceylon Tea.

Strong Agricultural Background

Dinesh hails from an agriculture-related family; his father was employed in the Department of Agriculture, in charge of the seed Potato importation in 1949 and later contributed as the Director of Nuwara Eliya District in the Department of Agriculture, until his retirement in 1983.

Personal Involvement throughout the process

This inherited passion for nature and the love for the good earth has been Dinesh's advantage in his involvement with Ceylon tea. His commitment and passion for Ceylon Tea is so great, he has personally taken time to understand the subtlety of tea cultivation, impact of the soil and climatic conditions on the quality of tea, and importance of retaining the freshness and purity; he has ensured that top quality standards are maintained throughout the entire tea manufacturing process and blends are perfected, tasting the teas himself and finally stamping the HILLTOP signature as a guarantee of excellence, a promise of an authentic cup of Pure Ceylon Tea, fresh from the garden to the cup.
